GCA's administrators have extensive experience in serving public and private enterprise. Together, they provide a strong backbone for the day-to-day operations of the Georgia Cyber Academy.

Dr. Andrew Oberg, Head of School

Dr. Andrew Oberg serves as Head of School for the Georgia Cyber Academy, the largest cyber charter school in the nation. Dr. Oberg brings over 23 years of educational experience with stints as director of instructional technology, middle school principal, high school teacher, summer school teacher and administrator as well as varsity football and track coach. Dr. Oberg most recently was the CEO of Cloudcast Education, a Google Enterprise Partner that is the exclusive distributor and systems integrator of Google products and services to government agencies and public schools in the state of Pennsylvania.  

Veronica Clemons, Deputy Head of School

Veronica Clemons previously worked for the Georgia Department of Education's Georgia Virtual School Program. Ms. Clemons's work focused on program finances, policies and procedures, and program promotions. She has served in Georgia public schools as a teacher, volunteer program coordinator, school improvement committee member, middle-grades assessment team leader, and in various positions with the Parent Teacher Student Association. She has a deep passion for education. Ms. Clemons holds a B.S. in Special Education from Albany State University and graduated with honors from Central Michigan University with an M.S.A. in Business Administration.

Staci Kimmons, Academic Administrator

Dr. Kimmons comes to GCA from K12's George Washington University Online High School, where for the past 3 years she served as Head of School for this high-performing private online 6–12 school.  Prior to that, she oversaw High School for Georgia Connections Academy, and also has extensive experience as a Principal and/or Administrator at every grade level since getting her start as a High School Counselor. Dr. Kimmons holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership from Marquette University, a Master of Science in Educational Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Science from University of Wisconsin- Parkside. She also holds an Add-On Certification in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University.

Allison Yawn, Operations Manager

Allison Yawn is a certified middle school math teacher with 16 years of experience in public education. Before coming to Georgia Cyber Academy in 2008, she taught 8th grade math in the Columbia County School System for 7 years. She joined GCA as an 8th grade math teacher with a passion for sharing her love of math with students all over the state of Georgia. Since joining GCA she has served as Data and Accountability Manager overseeing school data analytics and state testing. She then served as Human Resource Coordinator where she focused on obtaining highly qualified teachers to facilitate learning for our students. For the past three years, she has served as School Operations Manager. In this role she oversees state testing, school based enrollment, state reporting/compliancy, student records, business, student information, instructional technology and office management. Allison has a genuine love for students and families and sees GCA as an alternative that affords opportunities to students across the state. Her daughter attended GCA for 2 ½ years and was among the Inaugural GCA Graduating Class of 2014. Mrs. Yawn graduated from Augusta College with a Bachelor's Degrees in Education with a focus on math and science. She is also certified to teach Family and Consumer Science grades 6–12.  

Maria Waters , Elementary Administrator

Maria Waters has been an educator in Georgia public school system since 1995. She also has experience in homeschooling students for 7 years. She has been with GCA since 2010. Since joining the GCA team, she has served as a homeroom, language arts, math, ELL teacher, supported students in the ALP Program, and a lead teacher in elementary school. She has also been the Student Achievement Data for Middle School. In August of 2015, she accepted the role of principal for the elementary school. She is dedicated to students and leading the elementary school staff to assist students and learning coaches so that all students are successful at Georgia Cyber Academy.

Rosie Lowndes, Middle School Administrator  

Rosie Lowndes has been an educator in the Georgia public school system and private tutoring business, for over 20 years. She has been with GCA since 2009.   Since joining the GCA team, Mrs. Lowndes has served as a homeroom teacher, Social Studies teacher, and lead teacher. In August 2011, she accepted the role of Assistant Administrator and in September 2014 accepted the role of Administrator. Mrs. Lowndes is dedicated to the “student in the chair” and leading our middle school staff to assist learning coaches and students to master the skills and standards of the student’s particular grade level.

Aundrea Muth, High School Administrator

Aundrea Muth has been an educator in the Georgia public school system since 2004. She has been with GCA since 2012. Since joining the GCA team, Ms. Muth has served as a homeroom teacher, Social Studies teacher, Lead Teacher, and Assistant Administrator. In August of 2016, Ms. Muth accepted the role of Principal for the High School. She has a passion for building a positive school culture, supporting teachers as they lead students to academic success, and finding innovative ways to meet the needs of individual students.

Michelda Watson, FAST Administrator

Michelda Watson has been involved with multiple facets of Georgia Cyber Academy since her arrival as a Learning Coach in 2007. She is currently serving as the Interim Family Engagement Administrator of the Family Academic Support Team (FAST) for the remainder of the 16–17 school year. Michelda officially joined FAST as a Family Academic Support Liaison (FASL) in 2010 after three years as an engaged, passionate Learning Coach who was excited about GCA’s unique method of delivering K–12 education virtually. Since then, she has worked with all grade levels within FAST, and has served as a FASL Lead for both Middle School and High School, where she helped design and implement the school's FASL program. For the past two years, Mrs. Watson has served as the FAST Assistant Administrator, assisting in overseeing FAST’s Advisement, FASL, Truancy, Family Engagement and Social Work programs. Her ultimate goal is for all positions within FAST to support GCA’s at-risk and struggling families, ultimately leading to their success within GCA's virtual environment.

Erica Curry, Special Education Director

Erica Curry comes to GCA with over 14 years experience in general and special education across elementary, middle, and high schools. She has served in the roles of teacher, special education specialist for schools, assistant principal and as a Director of a Freshman Academy. She attended both Jacksonville State University and Cambridge College receiving Bachelor's Degrees in Public Relations and Education, a Master's Degree in Public Administration and a Specialist in Educational Leadership. Erica’s passion for educating children came in college when she worked and managed group homes for children with disabilities; primarily students who were deaf and hard of hearing. Her dedication continued within the education profession where she found that she made an impact by teaching children, but would make a greater impact by leading others and providing the support and resources necessary for teachers and families. Erica believes in educating the “whole child” to their individual ability and equipping them with tools that enable them to be advocates for their learning.

Tanya Cobb, Lead Counselor

Tanya Mitchell Cobb is a certified school counselor with experience spanning the past 16 years as a senior college admissions counselor/recruiter and as a school counselor with Atlanta Public Schools, Clayton County and Lead Counselor for the Troup County School System. Mrs. Cobb has traveled across the country conducting workshops on test taking strategies, career development, financial aid and college preparation and selection. These afforded her the opportunity to view schools across the county and acquire a body of knowledge to better serve parents and students. Mrs. Cobb graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a B.A. in Religion/Philosophy and a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology. She received her Ed.S. from University of Sarasota.
