Elementary Principal

Maria Waters - Elementary PrincipalI have been an educator in the Georgia public school system since 1995. I also have seven years of experience in homeschooling students. I have been with Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA) since 2010. Since joining the GCA team, I have served as a homeroom, language arts, math, and ELL teacher. I have supported students in the ALP Program, and been a lead teacher in the elementary school. I have also served as the student achievement data coordinator for the middle school. In August of 2015, I accepted the role of principal for the elementary school. I am dedicated to students and leading the elementary staff to assist students and Learning Coaches, so that all students are successful at GCA.

Trina Weaver

Trina WeaverI have been an educator in the Georgia public school system and private tutoring business for more than a decade. Since coming to GCA in 2011, I have enjoyed teaching middle school mathematics, serving as a grade level curriculum chair, grade level lead, STARS lead, student achievement data coordinator, and assistant administrator. I am dedicated to meeting the individual needs of every student by looking at the whole student, data, past, and potential future. I keep the student in the forefront of every operational decision I make. I enjoy supporting the students, Learning Coaches, and staff in all they do. I reside in Cobb County with my husband and three sons. Welcome to GCA!

Holly Witcher

Holly WitcherWelcome to GCA! This school year will mark my seventh year with GCA and my 15th year in education. I graduated from Georgia College and State University with a degree in early childhood education and went on to get my endorsements in special education and gifted education after graduation. I have a true passion for working with students to determine how to help them best reach their full potential. I recently moved to Cleveland, Georgia, with my husband and two boys and am thrilled to be meeting new GCA families in this area already!

Daniel KeigerThis year is my second year at GCA and my sixth year as an educator. I enjoy working at GCA because we are able to offer students flexibility and one-to-one support in a unique and fun environment. I live in Lawrenceville with my wife and two sons. Hillary Roebuck

Special Education Lead Teacher

Hillary RoebuckI love GCA! This is my fifth year at GCA and my seventh year in education. I have a bachelor's degree in education in both general and special education grades PK–5. GCA has pushed me to think outside of the box in reaching students with special learning needs. I enjoy supporting our 3–5 special education team, the families, and the students. I love seeing everyone come together to help students succeed. I have a wonderful husband and three beautiful children. My oldest is doing K–5 with GCA this year, so I am definitely relating to the Learning Coaches more than ever! We love going camping and spending quality time making memories with our littles and family.

Lauren Holmes

Lauren HolmesI graduated from North Georgia College and State University (now UNG) with a dual degree in early childhood and special education. I went on to earn my master's degree in early childhood education and my specialist degree in exemplary teaching and learning. Working for GCA has been a dream come true! I support the K–5 special education students. I absolutely love getting to work with this group of students and putting the best plans in place for them! I live in Cumming with my husband, daughter, and son.

Taylor LoydI graduated from Piedmont College with my master's degree in early childhood education and special education. I am currently obtaining my specialist degree from Valdosta State University in instructional technology and will graduate in May 2018. I live in Social Circle, Georgia, with my husband, son, and daughter. Elizabeth RoseOur third grade team is excited to welcome our Class of 2025! I am the third grade lead and have been with GCA for five years. My bachelor's degree is in early childhood education, and I hold a master's degree in leadership and supervision. I graduated from the University of Georgia and love cheering on the Dawgs. I am passionate about facilitating a partnership between parents, students, and teachers. I welcome the opportunity to serve you this school year.

Aleks Berry

3rd Grade Lead Teacher

Aleks BerryI'm so excited to be starting my sixth year at GCA! This is my 11th year as an educator. I hold a master's degree in educational leadership, have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades and also taught at the University of Phoenix. In earning my master's degree online and teaching at the University of Phoenix, I have developed a passion for virtual education. I've been happily married for 10 years, and we are the proud parents of two daughters and one son. I look forward to a fun-filled school year!

3rd Grade Lead Teacher

Ingrid BaileyI am thrilled to join the 3rd grade team this year! This is my 11th year of teaching in Georgia and third year here at GCA. I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in early childhood education. I love my job and am passionate about virtual education and supporting students. I live in Acworth with my husband of 10 years and two little boys who are in Pre-K and 2nd grade. I am excited to partner with our 3rd grade families, and look forward to working with you all!

Stacey Porter

4th Grade Lead Teacher

Stacey PorterThis is my third year as kindergarten lead teacher and my fifth year with GCA, and I am excited to welcome you. I have been an educator in the state of Georgia for more than a decade. I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in early childhood education. I, then, stayed home with my children for 10 years before returning to the classroom. I live in Marietta. I've been married for 20 years and have three teenagers! My goal this year is to make your school experience at GCA a successful one.

4th Grade Lead Teacher

Amy MorganI am currently a 4th grade lead with GCA. After graduating from the University of Georgia, I taught reading and language arts in elementary and middle public and private brick-and-mortar schools. I have been married for nine years and have three daughters.



Janet Wheeler

5th Grade Lead Teacher

Janet WheelerI have been an elementary educator for nearly two decades. I joined GCA in 2010 as an elementary teacher and received my gifted endorsement in 2012. Since joining GCA, I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades and served as the elementary school ALP coordinator. As the mother of a gifted student, I have a heart not only for the student but also for the parents of those students, and the challenges that come with parenting a gifted child. I live with my husband and two children in Cherokee County.

Stacy Clendenen

5th Grade Lead Teacher

Stacy ClendenenI have been an elementary teacher for more than10 years. During this time, I earned my master's degree and gifted endorsement. I have a passion for teaching mathematics and helping other teachers develop their skills in this area. I look forward to working with the 5th grade team this year to see how far we can take the students as they prepare to enter the world of middle school! I live in Henry County with my husband and two teenage daughters. We enjoy any time spent together and particularly enjoy cruising.

Roxane Day

Roxane DayI'm excited about working with elementary school students and families this year. I have an MAT in English from Kennesaw State University as well as a BA in sociology/psychology from Asbury University. I have taught for nine years, after spending many years in sales in the business world. Additionally, I homeschooled my two children, who are now grown, and I have two cute little grandsons.

Kelly CollinsI am so excited to work with the K–5 students this year! I have a BS in early childhood education and an MS in school counseling. There are many opportunities for students to participate in the counseling program through grade-specific career education activities, weekly character education sessions, and small groups for extra support. I'm looking forward to a great year here at GCA.

Family Engagement Coordinator

Kristy HowardI graduated from Clayton State University with a degree in psychology and human services. I also earned my middle grades teaching certificate through North Georgia College. I started out with GCA as a family academic support liaison, and I have also worked as an academic advisor. I am thrilled to now be working with parents, students, teachers, and staff on the Family Engagement Team for elementary school! I will be helping parents become actively involved with GCA throughout their communities. I also provide Learning Coaches with resources such as workshops and help sessions, parent and family engagement plans, monthly newsletters, monthly meetings, resource room, general family support, and much more! I live in Dawson County with my 15-year-old son and my 12-year-old daughter. I look forward to helping your family this year!

Kim Boyd

Lead Family Academic Support Liaison

Kim BoydI began my journey with GCA six years ago as a new Learning Coach. Upon enrolling my daughter mid-year, I got really involved with other Learning Coaches in my area to help learn the ropes. As I met other Learning Coaches, I found myself supporting them and was soon approached by a GCA teacher about applying for a new position on the Family Academic Support Team to help many GCA families. I have been a part of this amazing team for five years now. Over these five years, I have had the opportunity to work with and support many new and returning families. Outside of GCA, I have been a music educator for grades K–12, taught private music instruction for more than 25 years, and traveled and sung many places, while being a wife as well as a mother to a 16-year-old daughter. Barbara StevensWelcome to GCA! I am starting my fourth year at GCA. Prior to coming to GCA, I worked as a school social worker in a BAM school for nine years. I graduated with my master's degree in social work from Valdosta State University. I have been married to my husband, Bill, for 14 years. We have two children, which keeps us super busy.
