Advanced Placement

On February 27, 2017, Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA) was named an Advanced Placement® (AP®) STEM Achievement School [PDF] and an AP® STEM School [PDF] by Superintendent Woods. Only 128 schools received this honor in 2017. The Georgia Department of Education began recognizing AP® Honor Schools in 2008. "The number of our schools and students succeeding in the college-level learning offered by Advanced Placement® continues to increase," Superintendent Woods said. "It is my pleasure to recognize these schools—and, by extension, their students, teachers, and staff—for the excellent work being done to expand opportunity to all students."

AP® Expectations

Participants in AP® are expected to maintain exemplary progress and achievement.

Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)

Every October, students can take the PSAT as a practice for the SAT. Juniors can take the PSAT to qualify for scholarships, including the National Merit Scholarship. Taking the PSAT gives students the opportunity to practice their skills. The College Board also provides extensive support to help students refine those skills. GCA administers the test on the designated day in October, but space is limited. If you plan to take the PSAT, please look for information in late August from GCA or contact your local high school to register through them.
